About Me
When I was young (maybe 7, maybe 8...?), I wanted to DANCE! My neighbor friend had tap shoes, ballet shoes, tutus, leotards-- the whole shebang-- and I wanted all of it! I went to my mother with a request to begin dance classes, but she had designs of her own. Wanting me to start piano lessons, she offered me a bit of "unbiased" advice. She put it something like this... "If you take dance lessons, that might be fun for a while, but at some point, you will be too old to dance. If you take piano lessons-- you will have a skill for the rest of your life." She left the ultimate decision up to me, and I guess I was wise enough to choose the latter.
After starting piano lessons, I began learning flute at age 8, and voice at age 15 . I attended CSU, Fullerton to pursue my goal of becoming a choir director. After getting married, my husband and I transferred to Oregon State University where I continued my studies in vocal performance, choral conducting, music theory, and piano accompanying. I earned both bachelors and masters degrees in music from OSU. I also obtained my public school teaching credential in music. At various times since graduation, I have taught general music and keyboarding in the public school setting. I have also held numerous volunteer music positions for my church including music coordinator, pianist, choral director, and children's music leader. I enjoy composing, performing in various settings, and sharing what I have learned with others through teaching. I have maintained a private piano and voice studio since 2003.
